Johnson-Su Compost Inoculant Field Trial Part III: Final Data Collection

Come learn how last fall’s field trial of Johnson-Su compost inoculant worked out for heritage grains and garlic, while practicing data collection techniques including infiltration tests, soil sampling for carbon and nitrogen, biomass measurements, and yield data! Then, as always with Seeding Regenerative Agriculture field days, enjoy a grant-funded lunch and the chance to connect with other people working in sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
General Field Day Schedule:
Introductions: 09:00-09:45
Data Collection (and analysis if time allows): 09:45-12:00
- Infiltration tests
- Soil sampling for carbon and nitrogen lab tests
- Soil sampling for microscopy
- Data collection on shoot biomass for grains
- Data collection on yield for garlic and grains
- Bonus for new field trial: Applying Johnson-SU compost inoculant to orchard tree basins
Lunch (and statistical analysis of results if not accomplished earlier): 12:00-13:00
Microscopy and Discussion of Results: 13:00-14:00
